What did we do today?
- Beach hopping: Spent most of the day at Playa Conchal and then did a short visit and walk on the beach at Tamarindo
Accommodation: Hotel El Velero at Playa Hermosa
Meals: Hotel El Velero for breakfast and dinner.
We followed the directions to Playa Conchal from My Tan Feet; parking at Brasalitto and walking the 15 minutes along the beach to Playa Conchal. For $20 we rented four beach chairs and a very good tent for shade. It would have been impossible to stay for long without the tent as there is not much shade there in March. The beach became increasingly more busy as the day progressed. There were lots of vendors selling food and drink. Watch your food though: we saw a large iguana snacking on the pineapple drinks that a family had left beside their beach chairs while they went for a swim. Can you say salmonella?
Later in the afternoon, we continued the drive south for a quick visit to Tamarindo. There was heavy traffic and Tamarindo was crowded with Spring Break tourists. We didn't stay long.
