What did we do today?
- Woke up in Bijagua and then traveled to Playa Hermosa. Arrived in time for an afternoon swim in the ocean.
Accommodation: Hotel El Velero at Playa Hermosa
Meals: Bijagua for breakfast, lunch at Cafe Europa in Liberia, and the Hotel El Velero for dinner.
We did a final walk on the verdant trails at Friendship House and then left for the 1.5-hour drive to Playa Hermosa. It's a beautiful drive down the mountain, and an easy, though less scenic, drive up Route 1 through Liberia.
Hotel El Velero: You can't beat the beachfront location of the El Velero. We upgraded to the ocean view room which was clean, large, with a king-sized bed, good a/c, a small bathroom, and a refrigerator. The swimming pool is very small, but nice to for a cooling dip after being on the beach. We really loved it here and would definitely stay again.
We also ate all of our meals at El Velero. I have no complaints about the food, but it is also nothing to rave about. The staff, however, are very friendly.
